Our Work

Our Mission: CRL strives to ensure fair and inclusive financial services and tools that provide economically vulnerable families opportunities, reduce the racial wealth gap, and address systemic inequality.

Our Challenge: Ten years after the Great Recession, an economic contraction caused by COVID-19 is again hitting Black and brown communities and lower-wage workers the hardest—many of whom have never recovered. This crisis is worsening long-standing and growing racial and economic inequities, at the intersection of a national reckoning with the historic need for their redress.

Our Approach: Through research, legal analysis, policy development, state and national advocacy and engagement, CRL fights for economic equity for underserved communities. CRL is effective in achieving reforms to end abusive lending and create opportunity including access to homeownership, student loan debt solutions, and COVID relief, including support for small businesses of color.
