Ashley Harrington

Senior Policy Counsel

Ashley Harrington is senior policy counsel dedicated to student loans, having recently returned to CRL from a brief project at United Negro College Fund. Before UNCF, Ashley served as CRL’s special assistant to the president and counsel. She assumed a lead role in federal policy and advocacy efforts as a primary negotiator for the Department of Education’s Borrower Defense to Repayment Rulemaking Committee.

Prior to CRL, she served as special assistant to the chief diversity officer and then to the deputy secretary for civil rights in the Office of Governor Andrew M. Cuomo, working on initiatives ranging from ensuring the language accessibility of state agencies to creating strategies to improve and increase state workforce diversity. Ashley received her JD from New York University School of Law and her BA in public policy analysis from UNC-Chapel Hill.
