April White Henderson ‌

April White Henderson joined the Center for Responsible Lending (CRL) as chief of staff in February 2019. She brings to CRL more than 20 years of communications and leadership experience in the agency, government, non-profit sectors.

Prior to joining CRL, April served as the associate executive director and chief of staff at the James B. Hunt, Jr. Institute for Educational Leadership & Policy (The Hunt Institute), an education think tank affiliated with Duke University in Durham, NC. Also at The Hunt Institute, April advanced the organization’s mission and vision as its director of communications. Additional communications roles in April’s career include serving as a press secretary for former North Carolina Governor Jim Hunt and an account director at the strategic communications firm, Capstrat, Inc., where she ran statewide issue campaigns and helped lead strategic efforts related to healthcare, affordable housing, and transportation.

A native North Carolinian, April is a graduate of Hampton University in Hampton, VA. She recently received her masters of public administration and policy from The American University, and as a member of Pi Alpha Alpha National Honor Society.
