State May Extend Foreclosure Assistance

Lawmakers in Connecticut could broaden mortgage assistance programs to help more state residents avoid foreclosure. Homeowners who are unemployed or underemployed -- not just those who obtained subprime mortgages in 2005 -- are in need of help, says Connecticut Housing Finance Authority President and Executive Director Timothy Bannon. He notes that the state's foreclosure problem "is acquiring a new dimension beyond the scope it had had."
