Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi has requested an injunction against The Cambridge Land Trust Co., The Hartford Land Trust Co., and Robert J. Vitale, saying that they used false claims of mortgage relief to take advantage of distressed homeowners.

Broward County Circuit Court issued a temporary injunction freezing the companies' assets and ordering them to stop operating. The attorney general claims the two companies charged homeowners upfront fees to restore equity and avoid foreclosure. Homeowners allegedly were instructed to transfer their property into a land trust operated by the companies.
