Rockefeller Bill Offers Foreclosure Protection for Military Members

State Journal (WV)
June 25, 2012

Sen. Jay Rockefeller (D-W.Va.) has introduced a bill that seeks to broaden protections for military personnel at risk of losing their homes to foreclosure while deployed. The Senate and the House of Representatives recently passed a similar measure for service members. Rockefeller's version -- the Military Family Home Protection Act of 2012 -- would provide foreclosure relief, mandate a permanent 12-month stay of foreclosure proceedings, increase civil penalties, and improve compliance with the Servicemembers Civil Relief Act.
