A new report by CoreLogic indicates that 52,000 foreclosures were completed in May, up from 50,000 in April but down from 71,000 in May 2012. There were about 21,000 completed foreclosures per month between 2000 and 2006, according to the report, and 4.4 million have been completed since September 2008. CoreLogic also reveals a decrease in the number of properties in the foreclosure process to 1.1 million from 1.4 million in May 2012. Florida, California, Michigan, Texas, and Georgia accounted for nearly 50 percent of completed foreclosures on a year-over-year basis. The biggest foreclosure inventories, meanwhile, were in Florida, New Jersey, New York, Maine, and Connecticut.
