Consumer Advocates Urge HAMP Extension
With only nine months left before this key housing recovery program expires, CRL and other consumer advocates are urging the U.S. Treasury Department to keep the Home Affordable Modification Program running. In a letter to the U.S. Treasury Department, 36 national and statewide organizations cited successful foreclosure prevention and modifications under HAMP that outpaced those in the private sector. The letter also notes that foreclosure’s hardest-hit communities still need more time to recover.
