When Wikis Go Wrong
August 8, 2011
We've recently seen several "articles" on Wikipeers.com promoting payday loans, including one that says CRL recommends them. How could they get that so WRONG? Maybe because the wiki--run by an company in India that promotes internet advertising--is publishing stories that are written by a payday lender, not an objective source. Here's one article that's basically an ad for the company, and clicking on the "author" of several other stories (including the one citing CRL as pro-payday) takes you to the lender's website.
Note to wiki sockpuppet: If your goal really is to push payday loans, maybe you should take the term "loan shark" out of the headline for your Aug. 6 story?
